The Investment Department handles the licensing, supervision, and regulation of various categories of investment mediators.
The Supervision of Licensees Unit at the Investment Department monitors the compliance of licensees (investment portfolio managers, investment advisers and investment marketers) with the provisions of the Law for Regulation of Investment Advising, Investment Marketing, and Portfolio Management Law 1995 (hereafter: “the Investment Advising Law”). The Unit also offers support, guidance, and informational materials to the licensed professionals under its supervision.
Supervision is conducted through site visits, correspondence audits, and reviews of the reports filed by licensees. Unit staff members engage in the continuous study of supervisees’ activities, conduct training for new companies, and provide guidance to existing companies where it is required. The Unit also addresses public complaints filed against licensees, and participates in enforcement procedures against violators of the Investment Advising Law by imposing financial sanctions and license cancellation, among other measures, and also imposes financial sanctions on investment managers for violations of the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
